On that note, let me welcome you to Malta. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, this world's smallest island has a lot to offer locals and visitors alike.
Malta provided many opportunities for my sister and I to sit back and take in the world one day at a time. Our five star hotel 'The Westin: Dragonara Resort' was a great base. We woke up to beautiful weather on most days and willingly succumbed to the warm rays of sunshine. Now on every holiday there is bound to be an event that you will want to remember. For me it would have to be our trip to Mdina, the old capital of Malta. We did as the locals do and decided to catch the 65 bus from St. Julian to Mdina (about a 40 min trip). When the bus finally arrived it was packed and people were scrambling to get on. We had to do the same otherwise it would be another half an hour wait for the next one. Lucky for me I got the door (well 'door' if there was actually something between me and the outside of the bus!). As the bus was so full, I had to stand at the top of the entrance and hold onto the railings as we whizzed through the streets of Malta. I had to laugh as it was at that point I thought this is what a holiday should be about. Being in the moment and in a way being one of the locals.
